"This is very exciting and presents a range of possibilities.  The combination of high quality local craftsmanship, important maritime heritage and a range of attractive recreational and commercial options is very compelling.  I hope the local community gives this the full support it deserves."                                  Andrew George, MP for St.Ives.

The project was launched at 'Boats in the Bay 2006' and is the brain-child of Jonny Nance who also designed and built the prototype Jumbo using a contemporary draft by St.Ives boatbuilder William Paynter. His vision is shared by the owner, local businessman, Robert Goodden who has generously made his new boat, named 'Celeste', available to the community to stimulate local involvement.

"Racing Jumbos will be a dynamic means of encouraging people of all ages to engage with the sea and each other whilst learning seamanship skills, developing self-esteem and a sense of pride in the town's rich heritage."         Jonny Nance
